SOCIAL DANCING FOR EVERYONE
DANCE INSTRUCTION
We teach SOCIAL DANCING. We dance for enjoyment. We teach All the dances that you need to know, so that you can attend social clubs and dance venues throughout the country. You'll be able to go to social clubs, hotels, or on cruise-ship holidays and join in the dancing with confidence.
You will have fun, keep fit and meet lots of new friends.
It is not Strictly Come Dancing. There is no stress, or judges to criticise. There is no standing in the corner if you get the steps wrong. After all, if you knew all the steps, then you wouldn't be thinking of learning how to dance. We run classes for absolute beginners and for more experienced dancers wishing to extend their repertoire. There are three terms a year. Perhaps the best time to begin is in the autumn, when the first thoughts of how to fill those long winter evenings, begin to fill our minds. But anytime beginners are welcome too.
Dancing is a wonderful social past-time. It exercises both the mind and body. If you are a couple, it is something that you can learn and do together and we would be pleased to have you join us.
If you are on your own, then you are still welcome. After all, you may find it beneficial to learn your own steps before you find a partner to dance with.
There are a great number of venues to attend, whether at home or on holiday.
No matter where you go in the country, there will be a social club or dance club nearby.
And you will be sure to receive a warm welcome.
There are many different styles of dancing, including ballroom, sequence, line-dance, salsa, and jive. You can of course attend venues that just specialise in just one of these styles. But the type of dancing done in most social clubs, hotels and on dance holidays, is a mix of sequence and ballroom, with the occasional line dance or jive added too.
Sequence dancing has all the same moves and figures as ballroom dancing, except that everyone does exactly the same steps at the same time. Whereas in ballroom, the moves and figures are
performed without having a set order (or sequence). Some people prefer ballroom, some prefer sequence, but most prefer a mixture. Social dancing in both sequence and ballroom, includes the quickstep, waltz, foxtrot, rumba, cha-cha-cha, jive and salsa. Because the rhythms of the dances are quite different, they are easily distinguishable.
